From Struggling With ACs → Secured Training Contract at CMS

Working with Gordon truly changed my approach to interviews this cycle.

Through our mock interviews, Gordon was able to quickly identify both my strengths and weaknesses. I found it particularly valuable that he provided very precise feedback on areas where I was falling short, especially in my approach to case studies, and offered clear, practical guidance on how to improve them.

Gordon also provided excellent advice on broader interview strategy. He is extremely personable and has a strong ability to accurately pinpoint your weaknesses and help you develop them very quickly.

Beyond the technical aspects, Gordon significantly helped build my confidence in interviews. Developing the right mindset made a huge difference to my performance, and I am very grateful for the support he provided throughout the process!

Key Results:

Before:

❌ Completed a vacation scheme in her first cycle, but did not manage to convert it.
❌ Had less application success with her second cycle and struggled ever since.
❌ Struggled with case study and partner interviews.
❌ Frustrated about how long it will take to get an offer.

After:

✅ During our mock case studies and interviews, I identified her weaknesses in technical areas and improved her answering structure & techniques.
✅ Instilled confidence in her, and helped with her mindset to have a positive experience in her interviews.
✅ The result? She landed a training contract at one of her dream firms CMS in Dubai, 29 days after joining our BigLaw Academy programme.
✅ She was among one of 3 candidates to receive a direct TC offer.

From Failing at ACs & Interviews -> Secured Training Contract at Irwin Mitchell (UK)

Hear from this Paralegal — in her own words
Future Trainee Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell

I recently secured a Training Contract with Irwin Mitchell in their Individual Services division, and the BigLaw Academy mentoring sessions played a significant role in helping me achieve that outcome. The guidance and interview preparation were invaluable, helping me build my commercial awareness, refine my answers, and, most importantly, develop the confidence to perform well during my interviews.

The support I received enabled me to present myself effectively and leave a strong impression throughout the recruitment process. I am incredibly grateful for the mentoring and would highly recommend the programme to aspiring solicitors looking to secure vacation schemes or training contracts.

I’m now excited to begin my legal career with Irwin Mitchell and take the next step in my legal journey.”

Key Results:

Before:

❌ She got law firm interviews/ACs but was unable to get an offer.
❌ She approached Gordon for a more focused strategy for candidates who want to improve their AC skills.
❌ She particularly struggled with motivational and commercial awareness questions at in-person interviews.
❌ She lacked confidence in her interview techniques and the quality of her answers.

After:

✅ I conducted multiple mock interviews to help transform her interview skills, answering structure and story-telling techniques.
✅ I rebuilt her narrative on how to answer, “why solicitor,” “why this firm” and some other most critical motivational questions; also walked her through a list of potential commercial questions to improve her commercial acumen.
✅ Successfully converted her final interview into a training contract offer at Irwin Mitchell in the UK 3 months after joining our BigLaw Academy programme.
✅ She finally put an end to her application journey and is now on track of becoming a lawyer at one of her dream firms!

Meet Gordon Chung

A young man smiling outdoors on a cloudy day, wearing a light gray zip-up athletic jacket with a black shirt underneath, standing in front of a grassy landscape with hills in the background.

In 2018, I received my 35th rejections.

I had just graduated from Cambridge University — one of the most prestigious law schools in the world — and I could not even get an unpaid internship, let alone a paralegal role. I was sitting in Costa Coffee every morning, applying for jobs I was overqualified for, staying in a cheap Airbnb because I could not afford London rent, and wondering whether I had made a catastrophic mistake by choosing London over Hong Kong, where I came from.

Nobody had taught me how the BigLaw application process actually worked. Not Cambridge. Not the careers service. Not anyone.

So I built a system myself. I spent every morning researching law firms and every afternoon writing applications — five days a week, like a full-time job. Eventually, a two-week temp role as a document review paralegal turned into another temp job, which turned into a training contract at one of the world's biggest law firms.

After nearly four years in London BigLaw, I realised something: the skills that got me in the door — the structured system, the pattern recognition, the ability to craft an application that stood out — were more valuable to other people than anything I was doing at my desk.

I did not come from a wealthy family. I did not have connections. I grew up being told that education was the only way out of poverty, and I nearly got a 2:2 in my first year of law school. I am not a natural. I am someone who figured it out the hard way, documented everything, and now teaches it.

Since then, I have helped candidates from the UK, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore, Dubai, Malaysia, Nigeria and beyond land vacation schemes, training contracts and associate roles at Magic Circle, Silver Circle, and US firms — many of them after years of rejections, many of them first-generation lawyers who had never seen anyone like them succeed in BigLaw.

My goal is to make sure that the only thing standing between you and your dream firm is your preparation — not your background, your passport, or the fact that nobody ever showed you how the game works.

I took the chance. Now let me help you take yours.
